Dear Seniors, Hopefully, this year
will be your memorable school year. It will pass by quicker than you
realize. Here are mini reminders for you:
1) Between September
6th-28th, ALL SENIORS must see Ms. Samantha for an evaluation of
transcript during a convenient time when teacher allows, before/after
school, or at recess 2) High School Graduation Ceremony is May 24th. Class
ranking is based upon weighted quality points (not grade point average)
with a maximum of 28 course credits. Seating will be determined
according to ranking, then above 3.00gpa, then rest of class placed in
alphabetical order. 3) GEE retesters Oct. 24-28, and finally March 20/April 12-17, Career Day- Sept. 29th

1. Sept. 29th is College & Career Fair for seniors and approved
graduating juniors. The buses will not be leaving until after 9am.
2.
Oct. 12th - all 8th graders will be administered the PSAT. Any 11th
grader who is interested in taking the test needs to sign-up on clip
board on Ms. Sam's door.
3. Oct. 13th - the High School ASVAB will be administered to all
juniors. Any senior who is interested in taking the test needs to
sign-up on clip board on Ms. Sam's door.
4.
United States Senate Youth Program for juniors and seniors who
participate in student government position can compete in essay
competition to spend a week in Washington, D.C. and receive a $5,000
scholarship. The superintendent will nominate only one student for the district. Students interested will need to see Ms. Sam by September 29th for competition guidelines. Website available: www.ussenateyouth.org

Any student who is interested in competing for NASSP Prudential Spirit
of Community Awards for volunteerism in school and community including
trip to Washington, D.C. Interested students need to apply online @ http://spirit.prudential.com and submit printed application to Ms.Sam by Oct.28th.
6. LSU Kickoff days are Sept.30th, Oct. 7th, Oct.21, Nov.11th register at www.lsu.edu/kickofflsu
7. AHEC Opportunities www.clahec.org a. Career Investigations in Healthcare for 11th and 12th graders with 2.5 g.p.a. or higher on Jan. 12th due Nov.18th b. Summer ½ credit program for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders with 2.0 g.p.a. or higher during June 2nd -July 2nd due March 1st c. A Day with the Doctors for 11th and 12th graders with 3.0 g.p.a. or higher on Jan. 18th due Nov.18th d. Nurse Camp for 10th and 11th graders June 2012
8. Southern University Roundup on the Bluff is Saturday, Oct. 8th checkout website www.subr.edu in the F.G. Clark Activity Center.
